1. (C) Jang Hyun-cheol, MOFAT Deputy Director for Human
Rights and Social Affairs, said that the ROKG would take a
principled stand against all no-action votes on human rights
issues in the Third Committee. The ROK mission at the UN has
already been alerted to this instruction. Jang stated that
the ROKG was still considering its position on the four
resolutions, but that it considered each resolution as
separate from the others. The ROKG would therefore decide
each resolution on its own merits, Jang said.
