(SBU) On July 9, 2007, poloff delivered reftel points
regarding AMB Swing's candidacy for IOM Director General to
Ko, Ok-Sok, Deputy Director of MOFAT Overseas Korean Policy
Division I. Ko noted that the election was in June 2008, but
at this point ROKG looks favorably upon USG candidate AMB
Swing. Ko welcomed further consultations as the election
draws near. A copy of the IOM constitutional amendment that
would impose a two-term limit on the Director General
position would be helpful in the ROKG decisionmaking process,
Ko stated.
