PROPOSALS ON SPECIES LISTINGS -- LYNX, SAWFISH, CORAL

1. Per reftel, emboff spoke to Amarilis Polonia, Dominican
Republic's CITES action officer, to solicit feedback on the
species proposals submitted by the United States, in
particular the Bobcat delisting proposal COP 14 Prop.2,
Sawfish Appendix I listing proposal COP14 Prop.17, Red/Pink
Corals Appendix II listing proposal COP14, Prop.21, as well
as on the marine proposals (porbeagle shark and spiny
dogfish) submitted by the European Union. Polonia told
emboff that the Ministry of Environment will review these
proposals and provide the Embassy a response before the
conference date.
2. The Dominican Republic will be represented at the
Conference of the Parties by the Secretary of Environment,
Max Puig, Assistant Secretary of Protected Areas and
Biodiversity (CITES point of contact) Daneris Santana, and
the Director of Biodiversity (CITES Technical Officer)
Amarilis Polonia.
