On March 30, Poloff sent information regarding the U.S.
decision under the provisions of E.O. 13382 to designate
Iran's Defense Industries Organization (ref A) to Alejandro
Solano Ortiz, deputy foreign policy director at the Costa
Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Solano responded that
same day, indicating that the MFA would study the issue. Per
ref B, Costa Rica does not have diplomatic relations with
Iran, no official Iranians reside in Costa Rica, and Costa
Rica does not have or intend to have official representation
in Iran.
