1. (C) Ambassador urged Deputy Forein Minister Mohy al-Din
al-Dhabbi on May 13 to opose Belarus' candidacy to the UNHRC
in favor of lovenia or Bosnia. Al-Dhabbi promised to conveythe message to the
internal Yemeni Government commitee that
decides on multilateral votes.
2. (C Information we have received through other channls
indicates that the Yemenis will support eithe Slovenia or
Belarus, but that there has been nocommitment made yet to
either country.
3. (C) Given the relatively good state of U.S.-Yemeni
rlations following President Saleh's recently conclded
visit to Washington, Ambassador's analysis i that the
Yemenis will support Slovenia.
