Officer Samuela Isopi October 16. Isopi said Italy's direct
foreign aid for Burma is relatively small and focused on
humanitarian assistance. A program to bring two Burmese
diplomats to Italy for a course on human rights this month
was cancelled at the last moment because of the regime
crackdown. Isopi said Italy could consider assistance
focused on human rights and democratization, but it would
depend on future conditions in Burma, budget constraints, and
the ability to identify appropriate implementing partners.
