¶1. (C/NF) On October 11 Charge' spoke with Cesare
Ragaglini, the MFA Director General for Mediterranean and
Middle East Affairs, about the importance we attach to EU
Foreign Ministers taking action on Iran at the upcoming
GAERC, per reftel. Ragaglini said he knew the Secretary had
talked about the issue with Foreign Minister D'Alema October
10 while the latter was in India, but did not have a read-out
yet from the call. Ragaglini took careful note of our points
and said he would brief Foreign Minister D'Alema when he
returns to Rome. Poloff also delivered a hard copy of reftel
points to the MFA's Iran and Non-Proliferation Offices.
