1. (C) Pol/econ chief spoke with MFA Pol Dir Ilgvars Klava to
encourage Latvia to speak at the September 6 OSCE PC in
support of the report by independent experts in which Latvia
participated. Klava said that he hadn't focused on the event
yet, but agreed that Latvia and other contributors to the
reports should speak in favor of them. Pol/Econ chief and
DATT also mentioned the issue to MOD U/S Janis Sarts, who
readily agreed on the importance of Latvia supporting the
report at the PC.
