The Latvian MFA on June 28 sent post a diplomatic note with the text in para 2. Action requested: Please provide post with language to respond to this note. Given that the Senate has not yet voted on the treaty, we believe language updating on the treaty's status within the US Congress would be fine with the GOL as an interim response. ¶2. Begin text of diplomatic note 54/727-5771: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honor to refer to the Extradition Treaty between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the United States of America, signed in Riga on 7 December 2005. The Ministry has the honour to inform the Embassy that the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia (Saeima) has ratified the aforementioned Treaty, Therefore the Latvian side would appreciate the receipt of information regarding the completion of ratification process at the corresponding institutions of the United States of America in order to initiate the procedure of exchange of the instruments of ratification.
