¶1. (C) On November 21, poloff discussed the re-election of
Ambassador Pierre-Richard Prosper to the UN Committee for the
Elimination of Racial Discrimination (reftel) with MFA UN
Affairs Director Azzedine Farhane.
¶2. (C) Farhane responded that he could not provide an
immediate answer but the GOM would consider the request
positively. He did not foresee any issues that would prevent
the GOM from supporting the candidacy. He added that he knew
Ambassador Prosper well through previous UN work and had
tremendous respect for him.
