(C) Pretoria High Court Judge Joop Labuschagne is expected to
rule May 25th on the State's application requesting that
extensive portions of the A. Q. Khan prosecution be held in
camera (reftel). The ruling comes significantly later than
the judge's self-imposed deadline of May 16th -- no
explanation has been given for the delay. Mission will
observe the court appearance and report on the ruling
content. (NOTE: In the South African system the judge is
required to read his entire opinion verbatim to the parties,
a process which can take several hours. END NOTE.)
