(C) As predicted Ref A, on 20 April South African weekly the
Mail & Guardian filed a notice of intent to oppose the
National Prosecution Authority's 16 February request that the
trial of alleged A. Q. Khan proliferators Gerhard Wisser and
Daniel Geiges be conducted in camera. Joining the Mail &
Guardian as intervening parties are the Freedom of Expression
Institute, the South African National Editors' Forum, and the
South African Chapter of the Media Institute of Southern
Africa. The Pretoria High Court will hear arguments from
both sides on 02-04 May. Mission will observe the hearings
and report on further developments.
