1. Severino Almeida, The Secretary General came to the Embassy
on January 24 to sign the condolence book opened in the memory
of the late former President Gerald R. Ford. The Secretary
General wrote: "In memory of former President of the United
States of American Gerald Ford. The Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, on behalf of the
Government of the Republic of Cape Verde pays sincere tribute to
the great American statesman who was Gerald Ford, at the same
time presents its ardent condolences to the bereaved family and
to the American Nation in general. Rest in Peace."
2. Also signing the condolence book were Ambassadors or their
representatives from China, France, Senegal, and Russia.
