1. (U) Econoff spoke with Ministry of Agriculture Food Safety
Officer Karel Riha, who stated that the Czech Republic is
unchanged in its intent to vote in favor of the European
Commission's proposal to use two biotech corn varieties
(reftel) and will also vote in favor of the third variety,
Herculex Root Worm. Riha will represent the Czech Republic
at the June 8 EU Standing Committee vote.
