(C) Reftel advance notice of March 2 announcement of U.S.
Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW) program was delivered to
Czech MFA and MOD morning of March 2. MFA Director for
Security Policy Veronika Kuchynova-Smigolova replied that the
rationale for the RRW program appeared sound, but the timing
was unforunate given the current Czech debate on missile
defense and recent Russian threats. She greatly appreciated
the heads up and urged that both governments take care in
answering the inevitable questions so as not to inflame the
debate over missile defense.
