1. Pol Chief met December 3 with MFA Multilateral Affairs
official Kathleen Seenarine to promote the candidacy of
Pierre-Richard Prosper to the UN Committee on the Elimination
of Racial Discrimination. Seenarine said the GOTT would
consider the Prosper candidacy and would notify the Embassy
in early January of 2008, about two weeks before the vote,
regarding which candidates it intended to support.
2. In addition, post received a diplomatic note from MOFA
dated November 23 acknowledging receipt of the Embassy's
November 19 diplomatic note on the Prosper candidacy and
advising that the request for support was "under
consideration by the relevant authority."
