1. The US Coast Guard (USCG) on July 4 transferred 76
Haitian migrants into the custody of the GoH in
Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The USCG in the early morning of July
2 intercepted a sail freighter carrying 94 Haitian migrants
36 nautical miles northwest of Cape du Mole, Haiti.
Seventy-six migrants asked to be transferred to the USCG
cutter, while 18 migrants remained on the sail freighter.
The sail freighter, which the USCG escorted, returned safely
to Haiti. The migrants informed the USCG that they were
bound for the United States.
