1. Per reftel, post delivered demarche to Terence Craig Head of the
Americas Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Craig said
that he was unaware of the coming World Meteorological Organization
(WMO) Congress to be held in Geneva in May, 2007 and he would ask
his colleagues to see if anyone from Suriname would attend. Poloff
shared the USG views on the key issues per the cable, paragraphs
6-12, and encouraged the MFA and the national weather services to
coordinate closely with each other and with the USG prior to and
during the WMO Congress. Craig said he would pass on information
received as a non paper and would inform the Embassy of any
developments pertaining to these matters. Later in an email Craig
wrote he was still looking into whether or not somebody from
Suriname would attend the congress in Geneva.
2. Post will inform the department of any further responses from the
Government of Suriname.
