(U) On March 5, 2007, Econ Off and Econ Specialist meet with George Novey, Sub-administrator of the GoP's Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP),to discuss, among other things, the ARAP's views on the TEDs inspection visit of December 17 - 20, 2006. Novey said he was happy with the results of the visit (reftel). He said that the GoP's periodic reports obligations regarding TEDs is a useful mechanism to ensure continued compliance. Novey requested assistance in providing TEDs informational or educational material to fishermen. Novey requested that if State had any reports, studies or other materials demonstrating the effectiveness of TEDs or their benefit to the fishing community, ARAP would appreciate receiving copies. ¶2.
