1. (SBU) We conveyed reftel demarche and strategy document
to Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
(DFAIT) Afghanistan Task Force Senior Advisor Gallit Dobner
on August 8. Dobner expressed appreciation for the detailed
briefing. She said it tracked with the "very useful and
highly appreciated" pre-brief Ambassador Schweich had shared
with Associate Deputy Minister (ADM) and G8 Sherpa David
Mulroney and other Canadian senior officials on July 13.
2. (SBU) Dobner offered no immediate substantive reaction
to the demarche (septel). Rather, she referred us to the
extensive, detailed remarks made by ADM Mulroney and others
on July 13 (Ottawa 1420).
