(U) On February 26 we met with Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Special Advisor, UN and WHO, Torril Wanvik to follow up on
our request for information on Norway's contribution to the
Global Polo Eradication Initiative. Wanvik told us that
Norway's 2007 contribution to the GPEI would be the same as
FY06 (USD 7.6 million). Norwegian funding for 2008 and
beyond would be contingent on an external evaluation on the
GPEI being conducted. Norway intends to advocate for such an
evaluation at upcoming GPEI meetings.
