1. (C) As per refs Somalia Transitional Federal Government President
Abdullahi Yusuf is quite ill and was flown to Nairobi from Baidoa
early on the morning of December 4. Post's Regional Medical Officer
(RMO) visited Yusuf in Nairobi hospital and reported that the
President looked frail, but otherwise appeared to be doing well and
was undergoing a battery of tests. While an exact health diagnosis
has not been confirmed, Yusuf may have a heart-related ailment.
2. (C) According to the TFG Ambassador to KENYA Mohamed Ali Nur, the
President's staff still plans for him to fly to London tomorrow night
(December 5) for additional medical tests and follow up. We will
continue to monitor closely the President's health and travel plans
and will keep relevant posts and AF/E informed.
