(C) The Ambassador delivered reftel points on October 28 to
Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusef bin Alawi.
The Minister replied that Oman would send a representative to
the October 30-31 donors conference on Darfur, and that he
believed all Arab League countries would participate in the
event. On assistance, bin Alawi stated that Oman had yet to
decide what, if anything, to pledge at the conference.
(Note: Local press reported on October 24 that the
government-affiliated Oman Charitable Organization told the
Oman News Agency that it would donate USD 1 million for
humanitarian assistance to Darfur to be used to build
schools, clinics and homes, and to help dig wells for
drinking water. End Note.)
