1. (C) On August 12, the Ambassador raised reftel points with
Yusuf bin Alawi, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs.
Bin Alawi responded that while the Omani government channels
all its foreign assistance to the Palestinian Authority
through the Arab League, he would "take a look" at what the
Sultanate could do in terms of direct assistance and respond
accordingly.
2. (C) Comment. We expect that bin Alawi may be prepared to
provide a response to this request during A/S Welch's August
23-25 visit to Muscat. End Comment.
