(C) The Ambassador delivered reftel information to the office
of Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusef bin Alawi
on July 14. Bin Alawi's office promised to pass the message
directly to the Minister, and informed the Ambassador that
bin Alawi was currently in his native city of Salalah and
would likely remain there for the duration of the month.
(Note: The annual Khareef Festival in Salalah, one of Oman's
biggest events attracting senior government officials and
thousands of tourists, commences July 15 and will run into
