1. (C) During a May 30 conversation with the Ambassador, MFA
Under Secretary Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi stated that he had
recently completed three telephone calls with senior Omani
officials and that as a result, a vote approving Oman's
accession to the Convention on the International Trade of
Endangered Species (CITES) was now set on the agenda for the
Council of Ministers meeting to be held the following work
week (i.e. June 2-6). The Ambassador will confirm this
information during his scheduled meeting with Minister of
Industry and Commerce Maqbool bin Ali Sultan on June 2.
