information on Iranian Deputy Interior Minister General
Zolqadr with Vladimir Safronkov, Chief of the MFA's UN
Political Affairs Section. While Safronkov took the request
on board, he considered it "unusual" and was skeptical that
Russia would release information about an official visitor
from its consular files to the U.S. or the U.N. He
reiterated Russia's argument that Moscow had complied with
its obligations by notifying the Iran Sanctions Committee in
advance of Zolqadr's travel.
