1. (S) As instructed in reftel, Ambassador contacted
President Sirleaf on October 5 to confirm whether or not
Liberia is still interested in being considered as a possible
host country for AFRICOM. President Sirleaf confirmed
without any hesitation that Liberia remains enthusiastically
interested in hosting AFRICOM. Ambassador then asked if the
GOL would welcome a low profile team to conduct a site visit.
President Sirleaf said she would indeed welcome such a visit
at any time.
