The Electricidade de Mocambique, EdM has received a loan from the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) toward the cost of the rehabilitation and extension of Beira distribution network including Dondo town which is about 35 km away from Beira, and it is intended to apply a portion of this loan to eligible payments under this contract. The objective of the project is to provide a least cost improvement of the availability and reliability of the electric power supply for the entire urban area of Beira and Dondo, and their respective surroundings by rehabilitation, reinforcement and expansion of the existing network. Works under Package I consist of the rendering of engineering, procurement and construction services for the refurbishment/upgrade of HV and MV substations for Beira Distribution Network and Dondo Town and it is opened to all eligible bidders as defined in the procedures included in the prequalification documents. ¶8. Electricidade de Mocambique (EdM) intends to pre qualify interested applicants for works under Package I and now invites sealed Pre qualification Applications from prospective bidders. It is expected that invitations for bid will be made in July 2007. A complete set of the Prequalification Documents for this package may be purchased by interested Applicants starting from April 4, 2007 upon payment of a non refundable fee of USD 100.00 (one hundred dollars) or equivalent in freely convertible currency to be paid in cash or by telegraphic transfer to PB Power's Account number 022690212 at Standard Bank of South Africa, SWIFT code SBZAZAJJ.
