1. (C) Lance Corporal Daniel J. Smith was discharged from
the Makati Medical Center April 18, after being admitted for
a non-life threatening condition April 16 (reftel),and has
returned to Chancery grounds. Smith, who was escorted
throughout the hospital visit by personnel from the RSO,
Philippine National Police, and III Marine Expeditionary
Force, appears to be in good condition.
2. (C) As of COB April 18, no media stories have surfaced on
Smith's hospitalization, nor have there been inquiries to the
Embassy's Public Affairs Section on the subject.
