1. (C) Pol/Econ Chief April 24 delivered Ref A read-out of
the March 2007 Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI)
Operational Experts Group (OEG) meeting to MFA Assistant
Under Secretary for Coordination and Follow Up Shaikh Abdul
Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Shaikh Abdul Aziz was grateful
for the information, noting that Bahrain was an active
participant in PSI.
2. (C) Recalling that Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin
Ahmed Al Khalifa had told the Ambassador April 10 that,
having consulted with the Ministry of Defense, he expected to
forward to the Embassy soon a positive response to the U.S.
invitation to join the OEG (Refs B-D),Pol/Econ Chief asked
Shaikh Abdul Aziz for an update. Shaikh Abdul Aziz said he
would follow up and get back to the Embassy with a response.
