1. (SBU) Acting Pol/Econ chief delivered demarche points
contained reftel A and B to the MFA Transatlantic Affairs
Officer. There was no immediate response.
2. (C) COMMENT: We assess that we will not receive any
response from the GOL until 17 April at the earliest because
of the ongoing discussions between the USG and GOL regarding
the issue of missile defense and the Easter holiday in
Luxembourg. We would not want to invite false expectations,
but in past discussions regarding Guantanamo when the
resettlement of detainees in Luxembourg was raised, our
contacts did not dismiss the possibility. Post will pursue
this issue as soon as it is able/appropriate and report any
developments septel. END COMMENT
