(CO) Embassy delivered list of entities and persons named in ref A points on April 25 to Mark Peters, Iran Team Leader at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Peters said the UK Government has no identifier information related to the entities listed reftel. ¶2. (CO) Poloff noted that, per reftel, USG is willing to have any related information conveyed if necessary via intelligence vice diplomatic channels. Peters said he was uncertain whether all intelligence sources within HMG had been thoroughly checked for such information; he promised to initiate such a check. He noted that, should a check turn up any identifier information, such information might not be suitable for the kind of public disclosure involved in the implementation measures described reftel. Poloff asked that the existence or non-existence of such info be determined first, and that the terms on which it could be passed and used could then be worked out. ¶3. (CO) During Poloff's May 1 follow-up conversation with Peters, Peters said a check he had initiated last week within various HMG intelligence channels for such information has thus far yielded no result, but is ongoing. ¶4. (CO) Embassy also was informed, on about April 25, that HM Treasury has no such information because FCO, according to Treasury sources, is the lead HMG agency in this area.
