1. (SBU) On December 6, Smiljana Knez, head of the Human
Rights Unit of the MFA's Division of International
Organizations and Human Security, assured EmbOff that
Slovenia's Permanent Representation to the UN will attend the
upcoming UNGA plenary votes on the four condemnatory
resolutions on the human rights situations in the DPRK,
Burma, Iran, and Belarus and the three related procedural
no-action motions (reftel),and will again vote in line with
the USG position. Slovenia voted in favor of the
condemnatory resolutions and against the procedural no-action
motions earlier this fall UNGA's Third Committee. Knez
stated that Slovenia is aware that its presence and possibly
its participation in "additional lobbying" are needed to help
ensure passage of the condemnatory resolutions.
