CONTRIBUTION TO DEBT RELIEF PACKAGE FOR LIBERIA

1. (SBU) In a letter dated November 19, 2007, Andrej Kavcic,
Head of the Ministry of Finance's International Finance
Department, responded to the joint letter from U/S Jeffery
and U/S McCormick (reftel) by forwarding a joint letter to
the IMF from Minister of Finance Andrej Bajuk and Bank of
Slovenia Governor Marko Kranjec. Bajuk and Kranjec's letter,
dated November 6, 2007, stated that Slovenia's Ministry of
Finance and the Bank of Slovenia support the pledging of
Slovenia's full share of the distribution of SCA-1 resources
and deferred charges adjustments for the financing package of
the IMF's debt relief to Liberia. The Bank of Slovenia has
already adopted the formal decision needed to implement these
arrangements. According to Bajuk and Kranjec, the required
GoS formal decision on this matter is expected by the end of
November, when the Slovenian National Assembly adopts the
2008 budget. The GoS will inform IMF officials as soon as
the GoS grants the final approval.
