1. (SBU) On November 9, EmbOff delivered to Simona Rogl,
Head of the Ministry of Agriculture's Unit for EU
Coordination and International Affairs, the reftel's talking
points urging Slovenia to work cooperatively with EU Member
States to address situations which result in Member State
bans on biotech products and lead to undue delay in the EU
regulatory system. Rogl told EmbOff on November 14 that the
GOS appreciated receiving the U.S. views on this issue but
was unable to provide an official response at this time. The
Embassy will pass along any additional information it
receives from the GOS on this matter. Slovenia usually has
not adopted very forward-leaning positions on agricultural
biotech issues.
