(U) PolOff delivered reftel demarches to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Division for International Organizations and Human Security staffer Smiljana Knez March 21. Knez said that she knew this was a "hot issue" right now and promised to forward the messages to Slovenia's representation in Geneva as well as the MFA's Division for the Near East and Africa in the Department of Asia, Africa, and the Pacific. Post contacted Knez several times but has not yet received a more substantive response. ¶2. (C) NOTE. The United Kingdom DCM told PolOff that she had delivered a similar message to Knez on the morning of March 21 and that Knez knew little about the issue but said she would forward information to Slovenia's mission in Geneva. The MFA's "lead Africanist" Ana Novak from the Department of Asia, Africa, and the Pacific is currently on a two week exchange program working in the UK Foreign Office's Africa Division. END NOTE.
