REF: 06 STATE 124547 Per reftel instructions, Embassy Lisbon requested written confirmation that the Portuguese National Armaments Directorate has received and is using the Night Vision Devices (NVDs) in accordance with licenses 05-952997, 05-969376, and 05-969386. Col. Edward Brito Coelho confirmed the receipt of all of the NVDs listed and reported that inventory records show the following distributions: - License 05-952997: 13 units AN/PVS-7 were received by the Portuguese Navy -- six remain in the warehouse while the rest were distributed for use in the field. - License 05-969376: 16 Units AN/PVS-14 were received by the Portuguese Navy -- eleven remain in the warehouse and the others were distributed for use in the field. - License 05-969386: 68 Units AN/PVS-14 were received by the Portuguese Army and are under the control of the Materiel and Transportation Directorate (DMT).
