1. Peru's Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE)
has provided additional information to update reftel B.
Responses are keyed to the e-mail reference cited above.
2. MTPE assistance for negotiated collective bargaining
agreements:
In 2006, the MTPE provided assistance in 541 collective
bargaining negotiations; 451 cases were resolved as a result
of the MTPE's intervention, and eight were submitted to
arbitration.
3. Number of work-related accidents:
In 2006, 346 labor accidents were reported to the MTPE.
Twenty-eight resulted in fatalities, and 267 caused some type
of disability (237 temporary disabilities and 31 permanent
disabilities).
The breakdown of accidents per industry was: agriculture, 6;
fishing, 5; mines, 126; manufacturing 101; utilities, 7;
construction, 49; sales, 12; vehicular repair, 12; hotels and
restaurants, 3; transportation, 18; real estate, 10; public
administration, 7; teaching, 1; and social services, 1.
4. MTPE has assembled and forwarded source documentation for
the information provided in reftel B. Post will mail these
documents via expedited delivery to Theresa Esquibel, DOL, as
soon as they are received.
