Foreign Minister Jean Ping responded favorably when CDA
delivered reftel demarche November 6. Ping instructed his
assistants to compose letters to the Minister of Finance, the
governor of the Central Bank of Gabon, and the governor of
the Central Bank of Central Africa in Yaounde detailing
reftel concerns and urging heightened scrutiny of financial
transactions involving Iran. He asked his assistants follow
up with phone calls to ensure cooperation once the letters
were received.
