Emboff demarched Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director of International Organizations Ruben Vidaurre on October 11th regarding The SAFE Port Act. Vidaurre acknowledged the new law and understood that all cargo leaving foreign ports for the US would need to be scanned for the presence of nuclear or other radioactive materials. He was also clear that some exemptions to the July 1, 2012 deadline were available through DHS under certain circumstances. ¶2. Post is unaware of any local reactions to the law.
