-- Under the title "Until When Arab Nation?" Mohammed Al-Shaibani
inquired in progressive Arabic daily Al-Qabas (04/03):

"Will Arab rulers comply with the Riyadh Arab Summit's resolutions
and conclusions? Will they implement them in their respective
countries? And, will we see their effects on their peoples? This
is what we wish for and call for as our countries and our people can
no longer tolerate the rape of their resources and lands."

-- In moderate Arabic daily Al-Rai Dr. Mohammed Al-Rumaihi
editorialized under the title "The Streets to Trenches" (04/03):

"The Lebanese issue is different from the major issues presented to
the Riyadh Arab Summit or those that worry Arabs. The Lebanese
issue is purely Arab, unlike the Palestinian one where there is a
non-Arab party - Israel. The Iraqi issue also involves outsiders at
the forefront of whom is the United States."

-- Liberal Dr. Shamlan Al-Issa penned in pro-government daily
Al-Seyassah under the title "Exiles in their Country" (04/03):

"Certainly those ruling Iraq now are responsible for what is going
on in their country.... The exodus of Iraqis is the biggest
indicator of the failure of the current political situation in Iraq.
After four years of change, the only apparent change is a fake
democracy that is deformed by its dependency on sectarianism and
tribalism."
