Fear sets in, however, when the sole superpower uses its means irrationally. This heavily damages the international system." -- Liberal Dr. Mohammed Al-Rumaihi commented in moderate Arabic daily Al-Rai under the title "The Immortal and the Imitated in Kuwaiti Politics" (03/13): "Kuwait's surroundings are far from easy or simple. Geographically it sits in a flammable arch where crises arise and multiply. In this region economic dynamics could change in months not years." -- Under the title "They Disarmed and Fell to the Ground" Abdulla Al-Hadlaq contented in conservative Arabic daily Al-Watan (03/13): "The countdown for an international blow to Iranian terror has begun. This after the international community's patience ran out due to Iran's stubborn defiance of all the United Nations resolutions and the warnings of the IAEA.... Some Arab countries have even declared their permission to the Israeli forces to use their air space to carry out a strike against Iranian nuclear facilities." -- U.S. critic the conservative Shiite Dr. Abdul Mohsen Jamal inquired in progressive Arabic daily Al-Qabas under the title "We Come Crawling, Master, Hussein" (03/13): "Iranian-Syrian economic cooperation to establish a car factory in Syria -- despite western economic sanctions against both countries -- is the best evidence yet of the ability by the Arabs and Muslims to establish a common economic market. It is also evidence that the West cannot prevent such an achievement. The car factory is an example of cooperation between only two countries. What if there was true and widespread economic cooperation?" ********************************************* * For more reporting from Embassy Kuwait, visit: http://www.state.sgov.gov/p/nea/kuwait/?cable s Visit Kuwait's Classified Website: http://www.state.sgov.gov/p/nea/kuwait/ ********************************************* * LEBARON
