Iranian FM visit
--------------
1. (C) In a November 20 meeting (issues raised reported
septel),Kuwaiti MFA U/S Khaled Suliman Al-Jarallah informed
CDA that on or around November 30, Iranian FM Manoucher
Mottaki is scheduled to visit Kuwait to meet with senior GOK
officials.
2. (C) Al-Jarallah said that in his upcoming meeting with
Mottaki, he plans to raise the following issues:
--With Saudi accordance and backing, he plans to raise
contentious sea border issues with the Iranians.
--He promised to "clearly" outline Kuwait's growing concerns
in regard to Iran's pursuit of a nuclear weapon and said he
would urge the Iranians to listen to the international
community and resolve the crisis through diplomatic means.
--He said he would discuss Iranian efforts to influence Iraqi
Shi'a.
--He said discussions will also focus on bilateral issues,
such as a commercial initiative to export gas and water from
Iran to Kuwait.
--He offered to address Iran's growing displeasure with two
Kuwaiti dailies that regularly criticize Iran (Al-Seyassah
and Al-Watan).
