1. (C/NF) A/DCM met with Raed Al-Rifai, Acting Chief of
Staff to FM Shaykh Dr. Mohammed, on July 30 to discuss reftel
draft statement on the GCC 2. Rifai read over the document
and expressed general satisfaction but did not offer
substantive comment. He said he would forward the draft
immediately to the FM, who was scheduled to depart later that
afternoon for Cairo. Al-Rifai said he would relay any
further reaction to us when received.
