We conveyed copies of the revised U.S. proposals and other
issues for the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) to the ASEAN
Division of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry on May 17, in line
with reftel instructions. The Division's Deputy Director
General, Chuah Teong Ban, deferred comment on the materials.
As of May 21, we have not yet been able to receive a
substantive response from others in the Foreign Ministry
responsible for ARF matters, including ARF action officer
Zulkifli Adnan.
