Post has received Diplomatic Note number KLN 45/07 from the Government of Malaysia which reads in pertinent part: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honour to propose an arrangement of reciprocal support whereby the Government of Malaysia would support the candidature of the United States of America for election to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the term 2008-2011, in return for the support from the Government of the United States of America for the candidature of Malaysia to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the term 2008-2011, at the elections to be held during the 34th session of the UNESCO General Conference in October 2007." ¶2. Post has previously faxed to EAP/MTS the curriculum vitae for the Malaysian candidate, Hishamuddin Hussein, Minister of Education, and the accompanying letter of introduction from Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar. ¶3.
