1. Post delivered reftel talking points on May 3. On May 8,
Dr. Elaine Fisher of the National Environmental Protection
Agency (NEPA),responded, saying that Jamaica had not yet
completed its deliberations on any of the proposals and
documents for CITES Conference of Parties 14 (CoP 14),and
that she hoped to have further information by May 10. Post
has not received any further information, and calls to Dr.
Fisher have not been returned. Post will report any further
information as it is received.
2. Dr. Fisher did add that "(Jamaica) would certainly be
interested in (USG) views on the two issues in document 36,
and in particular on the proposals being put forward by the
Secretariat." If the Department wishes to share this
