1. Per Reftel, PolOff provided the proposed agenda and
notional schedule to the Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and Foreign Trade (MFAFT)'s Director of Caribbean and
American Affairs, Mrs. Joy Wheeler, on April 12, emphasizing
the U.S. commitment to a successful, positive, outcomes-based
US-CARICOM Ministerial/Summit, expressing our hope that Prime
Minister Portia Simpson Miller would be able to participate,
and requesting that the MFAFT advise regarding the Government
of Jamaica (GoJ)'s participation.
2. On the afternoon of April 12, MFAFT Permanent Secretary
Ambassador Douglas Saunders told DCM that it was not yet
clear who would attend the US-CARICOM Ministerial/Summit.
Post will report further information as it becomes available.
