1. Per Reftel B, on October 30, Embassy received a diplomatic note
from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) requesting the
U.S. officially support the Jamaican candidate for Category "C" of
the Council.
2. On November 5, the Embassy received a follow-up phone call from
the Bilateral and Regional Affairs Office of MFAT, requesting a
written statement of U.S. support for the Jamaican candidacy to the
International Maritime Organization (IMO). Post requests that
Department provide text of diplomatic note confirming U.S. support
for Jamaica's candidature.
